The Tellyscope is a short film in the Cracking Contraptions series. This film features the invention of the Tellyscope, a new television remote control system.

Plot[]

In an attempt to turn on his TV automatically without getting up, Wallace activates his new Tellyscope which shoots a tennis ball into the wall, turning gears and cogs to activate the TV. Wallace selects a channel and expects it to be his favourite program "The Cheese Files", but instead, a different program called "When Penguins Turn" comes on. Having run out of tennis balls, he tries using the TV remote which Gromit hands over, but its size and shape destroy the system, however, it does put it on the right program, before the TV shoots across the room, pinning Wallace to the wall.

Trivia[]

  • Music from A Grand Day Out is used.
  • The TV program "When Penguins Turn" featured Feathers McGraw, emperor penguins and descendant penguins, which may be a possible reference to the penguin enclosure of West Wallaby Zoo in The Wrong Trousers.
  • The noise of the whining Horse sounded before the channel changed.
  • Along with Shopper 13, this short hints that Wallace can be lazy at times.
  • A spoof of BBC 2's test card F featuring Wallace and Shaun can be seen on the Tellyscope for a split second.
