The Autochef is a short film in the Cracking Contraptions series. The film features the invention of Autochef, a breakfast-cooking robot.

Plot[]

To speed up his cooking, Wallace activates the Auto-chef (later Mix-O-Matic), a robot chef with a tea nozzle, a frying pan and a temperature gauge. Wallace tries serving scrambled eggs, but they end up on Gromit's head. He then tries serving fried eggs, but the eggs are shot at his face, blinding him. The Auto Chef starts going out of control, so Gromit uses a banana skin to block the tea nozzle which is squirting tea. The Auto Chef's head explodes, causing sparks off it's body (after it comically says the word "knickers").

Trivia[]

  • In the beginning, when Gromit is reading the newspaper, the headline, "Dog Day Afternoon", can be seen referencing the 1975 movie, "Dog Day Afternoon".
  • The Kitchen and Dining room have the same interior's wallpaper as in The Wrong Trousers.
  • This episode and The Turbo Diner take place the same day which explains why Wallace was busy fixing the Autochef at the start of The Turbo Diner episode.
  • The Voice Actor of the Autochef is robotic and is uncredited.
